The United Soccer League (USL) Super League, designated as a planned Division I professional women's soccer league in the United States, will be overseen by the United Soccer League (USL). Originally scheduled for a launch in August 2023, the league has adjusted its start date to August 2024.
The initiative was officially introduced by the USL on September 21, 2021, as part of a comprehensive plan that includes the pre-professional USL W League, launched in 2022, creating a comprehensive pathway for women's soccer. Amanda Vandervort, former Chief Women’s Football Officer for FIFPro, was appointed as the League President on October 12, 2021.
To align with the "women’s international soccer calendar," the Super League's schedule, announced in May 2022, will run from August to June, with a mid-season break planned to avoid severe winter weather. The league aspires to feature 12 teams in its inaugural season.
